KPV is a synthetic tripeptide with the sequence Lys-Pro-Val. It corresponds to the C-terminal three amino acids (residues 11–13) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), and is therefore described as a fragment of the α-MSH / melanocortin peptide family.
