What is GHRP-6?
GHRP-6 (growth hormone-releasing peptide-6) is a synthetic hexapeptide with the sequence His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH₂. It belongs to the growth hormone-releasing peptide (GHRP) family and acts as an agonist of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), the receptor for the endogenous peptide ghrelin.
Structural studies of the ghrelin receptor indicate that GHRP-6 binds and activates GHS-R1a through interactions distinct from those of acyl-ghrelin. It is used as a research chemical to investigate GHS-R1a signaling in experimental models.
