What is Epitalon?
Epitalon, also spelled Epithalon, is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the amino-acid sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. It is a synthetic analog of epithalamin, a peptide preparation derived from the pineal gland. The peptide was first described by Vladimir Khavinson at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology.
In the research literature it is studied as a short regulatory peptide, including for proposed interactions with the enzyme telomerase and with gene-promoter regions. It is used as a research chemical to investigate these mechanisms in experimental models.
